Learning Resource Centre / Mobile Resource Centre
Kampung Pukak is located in the hilly sub-district of Kiulu and is 70 km north-east of capital city Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Sek Kebangsaan Pukak is a primary school located in this village. The school caters for children from surrounding rural villages, some of which are as far as a three hour walk away. The school has an enrolment of about 120 students.
The Good Shepherd Rural Training Centre (GSRTC) is located about 100metres from the school.
The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) which was started in July 2008 carries out its activities at the GSRTC. It has the following objectives:
- To increase literacy rates and inculcate an appreciation for language among children in Kg Pukak in respect to English, Bahasa Malaysia and Dusun language
- To harness thinking and creative skills of the children through play and activities
- To enable children to come together as a learning community and to promote peer learning among the children
- To promote a stronger sense of caring among the children towards their community
To date, there are about 60 children from Kindergarten to Primary Six from SK Pukak who participate in the learning activities of the LRC every Monday and Wednesday afternoons. This program is well received by the school which presented the LRC with a painting as a gesture of its appreciation at the end of the last school year.

The Mobile Resource Centre, as the name suggests, is a mobile program which moves from village to village, bringing the activities of the LRC to children who are living in the outlying villages surrounding Pukak. Weekly or bi-weekly visits will be made to villages which have been identified as ‘centres’. These centres will be choosen based on its proximity to surrounding villages so as to enable participation from children of these neighboring villages.
